happy august!

I cannot believe it's August.  AUGUST!  All I can think about is school starting THIS MONTH.  Oh boy.  We are finishing up a week of swim lessons and just good old summertime fun.  We celebrated Daddy's birthday on Tuesday by going out for dinner at his choice of restaurant (Armadillo Grill, for you locals) and we came home and had some homemade Key Lime pie (AMAZING).  I'm ready for the weekend!

I gave Evelyn a bandaid the other day and she just had a ball sticking it on herself, peeling it off, and sticking it somewhere else.  I need to remember this for the days where she won't stay off of my leg when I'm trying to cook dinner.

Love this pic of my sweet baby boy!

So.  Evelyn walked over to the bottom of the stairs the other day and said "night night".  She'd only been up from her nap for an hour.  She was in a great mood, but just said she wanted to go night night. So I said, SURE! Why not?  I let her walk upstairs and I stuck her in her crib.  She pointed to the bookshelf and said, "book".  I gave her about 8 books and I left the room, without making eye contact, of course.  I went downstairs (where I happened to be making the Key Lime pie, so it was great timing) and she sat in her crib and read happily for 20 minutes.  I'm still amazed!

Anderson loves to play games on pbskids.org.  Evelyn loves to watch.  This was before they were dressed for the day :)

The kids showered Daddy with his birthday cards when he got home from work on his birthday.  They were the sweetest cards ever.

Evelyn loves to wear her tutu that her Aunt Bonnie gave her.  She'll bring it to me and say "dress!".  Then she'll stick her leg out so I can put it on her.  I love it!!!  I'm thinking it's time to start expanding her dress-up collection!

I found a couple of headbands on clearance at Target that I just couldn't pass up.  I love headbands on little ones, but most of the time the bow or flower on the headband is GINORMOUS.  If you know me well, you know I'm not a big fan of huge bows or flowers.  Not on my kids.  I thought this one was the perfect size.  I think she looks so pretty!

I'm glad you don't put headbands with enormous bows or flowers on Anderson and Camden... and they're probably glad, too :)

(I'm just chuckling over your use of "not on my kidS" LOL)

I LOVE Evelyn's pig tails. We don't quite have enough to work with, but I'm excited about doing it soon!
