6 months

Evelyn, you are 6 months old!  Half of a year!  I can't believe it.  Your first 2 or 3 months went by fairly slow, but after that it has flown by.  I am LOVING your age right now.  You are sweet, joyful, content, and just plain beautiful.  You always smile at us when we get you up in the mornings or after a nap. 

You are wearing 6-9 month clothes (some 9 months, some 6-12 months, depending on the store) and have been in size 3 diapers for at least a month now.  You love to do whatever everyone else is doing.  As long as you've got your big brothers in sight, you're as happy as a clam.

You have mastered sitting up this month!  Starting at 5 months, you could sit or a couple of seconds, but you'd double over and then fall to the side.  Now, you can sit for several minutes unassisted.  Often times I'll come back into the room and you've fallen over, but then you just play happily on your back or tummy.  It doesn't faze you a bit.  You aren't showing any signs of crawling anytime soon.  For that, I am thankful.  Your big brother (Anderson) was full-fledged crawling by your age, and I don't have much of a desire to have another one of those. :)  So, pretty girl, you just stay sitting in one spot for as long as you'd like! 

You still have 3 naps a day.  Your mornings naps are rarely at home.  We often run errands or have playdates, and you sleep well on the go.  You typically sleep for an hour in the morning, and then for 1.5 - 2 hours in the afternoon.  Your catnap is about 20-30 min long.  You sleep mostly on your tummy these days, which means your bald spot on your head is finally sprouting hair!  Yay!

This month you sat in your first grocery cart (at Target) and sat in a restaurant high chair for the first time.  I just look at you and can't believe you are sitting in carts and high chairs.  Weren't you born like 2 hours ago?!

Six months also brought you your first taste of baby food!  We waited till 6 months because your mama was too lazy to start before that.  You've had avocado, sweet potatoes, carrots, banana (mixed with your cereal), applesauce, and peaches.  Avocado is by far your favorite!   

Peas (haven't tried these yet) and peaches - about to go into the freezer.

You had your 6-month well check on Monday.  You are so healthy and are growing wonderfully!

You got to show your doctor your two new pearly whites and how you can sit up so well.  You received two shots + 1 oral vaccine.  It's so pitiful to see you cry, but it's worth it knowing these vaccines will keep you healthy.
