myrtle beach 2012

Labor day weekend, we had our annual 3-day trip to the beach.  This year, my parents joined us and we had SO much fun!  We left Friday and went and got Camden out of school after lunch so we could drive during Evelyn's afternoon nap.  Well, unfortunately, 20 minutes is all we got out of her!  Even with a DVD player to entertain the boys, it was just too noisy in there for her to get a good nap.  And those who know my boys know that they do not nap in the car (or at home... Anderson RARELY does).  I was slightly stressed (I tend to get that way from time to time) because I was envisioning a horrible evening ahead of us (crying, overly-exhausted baby).  Much to my surprise, she did so well!  We arrived at the beach, met my parents at the condo, and ate a quick dinner.  We walked around Barefoot Landing (basically right across the street from our condo) for a while, and sweet girl fell asleep in her stroller... which never happens.

Boys watching Batman in the car.  Thank goodness for DVD players while traveling... let me tell you.

This was my view the whole time.  LOVE it.

Sweet, happy girl being strolled around before falling asleep.

Aaaaand she's out.

Opa and Oma, being the fun and wonderful grandparents they are, offered to take the boys on a carousel ride.  They were so excited!  Anderson wanted to ride with Opa on the "bench".

Camden chose the lion (in case you couldn't tell).

If you've ever been to Barefoot Landing, you probably know that they have tigers.  The boys were so excited to see them again this year.

The day after we arrived, we finally hit the beach!  The weather was amazing.  Not too hot, slightly breezy, and clear skies.  One day it even drizzled (which felt amazing), but was still sunny the entire time.

Camden is totally our beach boy.  He is in his element when he's out in that water.  He plays with his boogie board and just goes to town.  Anderson is much more timid.  It took him at least an hour to even get past his ankles in the water.  Then, eventually, he'd let David carry him out into the waves.  Evelyn liked the beach, from what I can tell.  She didn't do any crawling (which I thought she'd do the entire time).  She just sat wherever I placed her.  She didn't try to eat any sand, but I did have to pry seashells out of her mouth on multiple occasions.  Silly girl.

Oma & Opa with 3 of their grandbabies.  They are such sweet, fun grandparents.  They were such a wonderful help with the kids, too.  They stayed up with Evelyn during her afternoon nap one day so that David and I could take the boys out to the beach by ourselves.  They played with the kids while we showered.  My mom refused to let me help with dishes and cleaning up after meals.  They let us eat their food.  I could probably keep bragging.  I just love my parents.
My mom is going to kill me for posting this picture... doesn't she look amazing though?!

Sand fiddlers were ALL over the place.  I think they're gross, quite honestly.  They might as well be little bugs.  The boys had a blast catching them and playing with them, then throwing them down and watching them bury themselves.

Family photo on the beach.

I want to eat this little man.  He loved wearing his shoes in the water.  Weirdo.  Cute weirdo.

Evelyn was able to nap both days out on the beach in the mornings.  I had to rock her to sleep with a towel over her face, but she went right down!  We borrowed a little beach tent from some friends, so that helped a lot.

So thankful for these three beautiful children that I get to call mine!

Oh, hello 12-year-old.

Love this picture of my parents.  Nice bib, daddy!

More beach time!  Anderson loved playing in the sand.  It was a great place for him since he wasn't just in love with the water.

Adore her little sandy feet.

This picture makes me laugh.  She would not put her legs down into the water.  It wasn't that chilly, but I suppose it was to her.

Love my girl.

Can't wait until next year... we'll have a little girl who is walking everywhere and will be very curious about everything, I'm sure!  The countdown is on.

I could just smack you. You.. you... you amazing person you.

Okay. So your Mom is rockin'. Gracious, I hope I look half that good in ten years. Love the picture of Opa with Andy on the bench. We all know I'm obsessed with Evie's legs, so that can go unsaid for every picture she's in. Camden needs to slow his roll just a little and not be 8 in two months. because then I'm 28 in two months and we can't have that, mkay?

now. onto the serious business. you know, the business where i want to smack you? yeah. why? pictures #12, #27, and #28. You are smmmmokin' Mama! Good. Gracious. I can not get over how gorgeous you are! Obsessed with that bathing suit (my word. don't let me in your house, i will steal it.) Totally diggin' your sunglasses. And in the family picture? You look JUST like Bonnie and I have never thought that in my whole entire life of knowing you 13 years. Please, no more pictures of you- you make me sick.

Kidding. You're gorgeous, post as many as possible. The best part? As gorgeous as you are on the outside, it doesn't hold a candle to how beautiful you are on the inside. And I mean that with all my heart. You are one of the most beautiful women I have ever known. And now I'm crying, and all you did was post pictures of the beach. What the--?? Ugh. Like I said, I want to smack you.

Totally agree with Em, beautiful inside and out!! Love the family pictures!!

And, how fun that my child's best friend is also her cousin! How amazing would it be if our 3 days at the beach could overlap next year!??! Will and I said so often, "oh my! how fun would it be to watch ABB and AK at the beach!?" Not to mention a year from now when our two toddlers are added to the mix. (I am also with Em that I can not even comment on how old and awesome Camden is!)

Just got back a few hours ago, loved getting to go back to the beach for a few minutes. :)

Emily was right on from smokin' hot mama to loving the suit. I stress out too when my kids don't get there necessary sleep. I guess it's because their lack of sleep might make me look like a bad mom. One more thing I need to let go of. Such great pics of all of you. Glad you had fun.
