evelyn is 18 months!

Evelyn, you are 18 months!  A year and a half old! I won't say that I feel like we just came home from the hospital with you.  I feel like you've been in our family for quite a while, and that's a good thing.  I promise.  You are sweet, spunky, and very very busy.  I love this age!

At 18 months, you weigh 24 lbs (80%), you are 32 inches tall (70%) and your head is 46.5 cm. (70%)

We had your checkup this week and you are healthy in every way!  You had to get 2 shots and it was pitiful, as always.  You loved the nurse but as soon as the doctor came in you got real nervous and didn't want her anywhere near you.  We joked and said that it's the nurse you should be afraid of, not the doctor!

Eating: 

You are not a great eater.  Let's just be honest.  You LOVE your milk and drink it with each meal (24 oz a day of whole milk), but you don't really care for much else.  One day you'll like something, the next day you won't.  I think I said this in your last update, but it's difficult to even sit here and name your favorite foods because you really don't have any.  You will ALWAYS eat some sort of sweet treat, of course.  But real food,  you just don't care for it.  I guess it's that whole milk that's keeping you in the 80th percentile for weight even though you eat like a bird!

Sleeping:

You are a good sleeper.  You stopped your morning naps right at 1 year, but when we are out and about in the mornings you almost always take a 10-15 minute catnap.  It's just enough to get you through until your afternoon nap around 1 or 1:30.  You wake up consistently between 3 and 3:30 from your nap.  I have to wake you by 3:40 to go get your big brother from school if you aren't already awake.  I literally get you out of your crib and stick you straight in the car.  You've done this your entire life so you don't typically mind.  At night, you sleep from about 7:45 or 8 until 7:30ish in the morning.  You normally just talk when you go to bed and when you wake up.  I love that you don't usually cry when we lay you down anymore.  Every once in a while we will hear little peeps or whimpers throughout the night, especially for the last couple of months when you were working on your canines (which have all popped through now, praise God!), but for the most part you sleep great through the night.

Evelyn, you are sweet and spicy, all at the same time.  Your little personality is blooming.  You do NOT like to leave places when you are having fun, and you aren't afraid to wander away from me (at full speed) if we are out in public.  I have to keep a very close eye on you at all times.  Sometimes I think you are "into things" more than your brothers were, believe it or not.  I often find you on top of the dining table (you've learned to climb up there all by yourself), getting out the cleaning supplies, drawing on the kitchen cabinet with a pen, eating crayons, digging through the trash, or unrolling the toilet paper.  You keep me very busy, and very tired.  I love it, though.  You make us laugh constantly and you are always willing to give out kisses.  We just adore you and you are the perfect ending to our family!  Happy 18 months, sweet girl!
