anderson's 5th birthday

Almost a month ago, our sweet baby boy turned FIVE years old.  I still can hardly believe it.  Five is SO big to me.  Anyone who knows Anderson would agree that he's a super sweet little ball of energy.  He's got more energy than just about anyone I know, but he really does have such a sweet little heart.  He's so quick to smile, to give me hugs, and to tell me he loves me more when I tell him I love him.  This boy has captured my heart and I am completely smitten by him!

I feel like Anderson has really grown up a lot this year.  Though he's never been a terribly difficult child, he's gotten easier in a lot of ways.  He's out of pull-ups at night, praise the Lord!  That's been a huge accomplishment.  He also takes showers now.  Those two things combined mean my little boy is officially big.  His eating has gotten better, we're still working on manners (without me having to remind him), and he's got his letters and numbers down pat.  He can also write his name, correctly, without having to ask which letter comes next.  Anderson is a pretty long(ish) name, so I'm proud of him. :) BIG boy!

Just for my memory... he weighs 34 lbs (7%) and is 41 inches tall (14%).  He's teeny... but I love it!  So much personality fits in that little body!

He requested eggs for his birthday breakfast.  One of his favorites, just like his daddy!

He had preschool on his birthday, so we sent in birthday cookies to share with the class.  Forgot to get a picture of those.  He came home with his special birthday crown!

He had soccer that afternoon, and his team sang Happy Birthday to him, which he loved.  Oma and Opa always went to his games, so we invited the over for a quick birthday dinner afterward.  Anderson got to choose the menu, which was grilled cheese, carrots, broccoli and fruit salad.  Yes, he picked broccoli and carrots!

I made him rice krispy treats instead of a cake.  Yum!

Opa & Oma gave him some Octonauts toys (we did, too, earlier that morning), which is his favorite show and favorite thing to play right now!

For Anderson's party this year, I let him pick 3 friends to take anywhere he wanted.  He picked Monkey Joe's.  So, we took the crew there to jump for a couple of hours, then came back to our house for corn dogs, chips and fruit.

Almost all the pics from Monkey Joe's are blurry.  Of course.  One cannot expect children to be still at a  jumping place.

Gift time!  More Octonauts!

So, I tried to be artistic and creative by making a "5" on Anderson's cake.  I cut out the number, put it on the cake, and and sprinkled the whole thing.  Didn't come out as pretty as I'd imagined.  Oh well, it was still delish.

We had so much fun celebrating our sweet boys's 5th.  I can't believe next time I post about his birthday he will be in KINDERGARTEN!

Love this sweet, handsome 5 year old! I could eat those cheeks when he smiles. I adore his protective, funny personality that shows up around Anna-Kate. He absolutely makes me smile and laugh; I am one proud aunt!

And, I love that picture of Camden and Anna-Kate!
