nc state fair

Last month, it was state fair time!  I'm not a huge fair lover, especially the older I get... and David isn't very fond of the fair at all.  We know the boys love it, so that's why we really wanted to go.  We love to see them so excited about it!  We opted not to take Evelyn this year for several reasons, and I'm so glad we didn't.  She stayed home with her Oma and Opa and had a blast while the the rest of us navigated the crazy crowds and stayed out until 10pm.

We picked up Camden from school at 4:00 and went to eat a super early dinner.  Why would we eat dinner BEFORE going to the fair, you ask?  Because we didn't want to spend $40 on dinner, that's why.  We decided to eat cheap beforehand and then get treats at the fair.  We told the boys they could each pick one thing.  Camden picked cotton candy (which makes me sick to my stomach), and Anderson picked kettle corn (which is one of my favorite things in life!).  The bag of kettle corn was big enough to share with everyone, thankfully.

Camden told me weeks ago that his artwork was going to be featured at the fair.  I was so excited!  (It's a picture of tambourines and a lava lamp.  Not a clue why.)  I was/am such a proud mama!

So, we have a little daredevil on our hands!  Our sweet Camden is very brave.  He wanted to ride EVERYTHING he saw.  We bought ride tickets ahead of time and told the boys that whey they were gone, we weren't getting any more.  So, we had to help them figure out how to spend them wisely.  Not an easy task, by the way.  I refused to ride most things, but I did ride the Gravitron with Camden.  He loved it, I screamed.  Let me just say... I LOVED rides growing up and in high school, would ride almost everything.  The older I get, the more terrified I am.  I refuse to ride most things now.  Anderson rode a few of the kiddie rides.  David went with him on most of those, because he missed the clearance to be able to ride by himself by about one inch!  Camden wanted to ride one really scary ride and took forever to decide which one.  He finally decided on The Zipper, which was my absolute favorite when I was younger.  Oh, I loved it.  David and Camden knew not to even ask me if I would ride it with Camden, so David agreed.  He wasn't terribly excited at first, but when it was over he was glad he did.  I wasn't sure how Camden would end up feeling about it, but he LOVED IT.  He came running to me when he got off and yelled, "that was AWESOME!"  Love my little daredevil!

See ya next year, state fair! Get ready for all five of us!
