We finally got around to painting our kitchen! It's something we have wanted to do for so long, but kept putting off for one reason or another. Here's a little look of the before and after:
I know they aren't the exact same angles... when I took the "after" shot I guess I forgot the way I took the "before" shot. Also, the before picture has some junk laying around, forgive that. :) Lastly, I just realized that the red bowl in the "after" picture is crooked. I need to go fix that! Also, you can see from the picture above and the one below, that the green changes in different lights. The actual color is called "asparagus". Sometimes it looks darker, sometimes it's lighter.
These framed scrapbook pages are my favorite thing in the kitchen... I love the cute little kitchen tools and the fun colors!
We are loving our fun new green kitchen! Ideally, we would LOVE to have white cabinets, and a dark-colored countertop (like dark gray), but we just don't think it's going to happen in this house. If this was our forever home, or a place we knew we were going to be for ten more years, we would consider it, but we just don't think it would make sense to invest that much money in this home, where we know we will probably only spend another 2 years or so. So, we thought a little paint in a bright fun color, and eventually switching out the hardware to something silver and a little more contemporary, would liven up the kitchen a lot. We've lived in this house for 2.5 years and are still doing things to fix it up... is this normal?? I am thinking so, since it would obviously be very expensive to do a lot of things at once. The next project I would like to tackle is our master bedroom. Since it's the room that's probably seen the least, it's the most neglected, decoration wise. I know it's important to have a room that we can go to where we feel relaxed and rejuvenated, so hopefully this won't be too far off. We also still have some work to do in the boys' room, which I know I still have not taken pictures of to share on the blog. We have some decorating ideas for their walls that we want to do, but that probably won't happen for a little while... till things settle down after baby arrives, most likely!
Let me tell you, painting walls at 9+ months pregnant, at night, was not easy! I did a lot of the painting down by the ground, so I could sit down some. Boy, were my feet and back aching by the end of the night! It was worth it though... our green kitchen is WAY more fun than our boring khaki colored one. It's amazing what a little color can do!

Oh! I love it!!! I can not wait to see it in person! I love the framed pieces too! Great job!
We have the same color in our living room :-) It's my favorite!
We've been in our house for 4 years, and we're still doing things to fix it up... so yes, that is normal. You buy a house, and then you spend the rest of your life keeping it from falling apart. :) ha ha
Love the green! I painted our kitchen in Wendell at 9 months pregnant, and my back just about gave out. We haven't painted a single wall in this house since moving in, but I have lots of ideas! I think we're waiting because we really want to make sure we like something enough to invest in it. And, of course, the funds :)
I love the new color for your kitchen! It looks incredible! How hard was it to paint (aside from being 9 months pregnant)? I've wanted to paint my kitchen forever, but it seems like it'd be so hard!
Ash, the asparagus is very appealing :) and that will be the last time you ever catch me saying words like that.
very pretty! great idea about the framed scrapbook paper! i feel like that's such an obvious DUH- why haven't i ever done that?!
