camden

I thought I'd just do a little update on our big boy and what he's up to.

I find 4 to be a very interesting age. I also think that ages 3 and 4 have been the hardest yet. When they are younger, discipline consists mostly of "don't touch", "come here", "put that back". At this age, it is so much more in-depth than that. I am now dealing with attitudes, heart issues, honesty, respect. There have been days where Camden gets a spanking before 9:00 in the morning. I'm thinking, "he's only been up for 2 hours and he's already in trouble!!!" He is also going through a difficult stage right now where he's not interested in any of his toys. He constantly is needing attention or to play one-on-one with me. First of all, I don't have the time to do that, nor do I have the ability. When I'm folding clothes, he's right there. When I go upstairs to refresh my make-up, he's right there. When I check my e-mail, he's right there. I'll suggest a certain toy to go play with or to go color, but he's just not interested. He probably would watch TV all day if I let him, but my guilty conscience starts to kick in if the TV is left on too long. It can be very exhausting for me to have him right under my feet and constantly needing to interact with me throughout the entire day. Luckily I have a good friend who tells me that everything I'm going through is completely normal and that I'm certainly not the only one feeling this way. David and I are constantly realizing how we cannot do this on our own and that we MUST pray for direction, patience and wisdom when it comes to parenting.

On a lighter note, Camden is always amazing us with his genius-ness. Is that a word?
Camden is starting to read simple words and can spell very well. The other day he wrote 'dinosaur' without even having to ask me how! Dinosaurs are definitely some of his favorite things right now...he can tell us what most of them are called. He also is really into telling knock-knock jokes and being so goofy. He never ceases to make us laugh, especially when we are trying to be serious! :)

We love our little man and the unique, exquisite personality that the Lord has blessed him with.

i don't even know how to spell (hang on.....) "Dinosaur" without looking at what you wrote :)

he is so smart, he always amazes me with his thought process and in-depth conversations.

you are a great mommy- i probably don't tell you enough, but it just amazes me how great you are and what a good, well-mannered, disciplined 4 year old Cam is. you may not always see it, but from the outside- you and him are pretty phenomenal :)

It is probably hard to hear that you will want to enjoy EVERY stage your children go thru. However, time passes much too quickly. The best thing is that y'all realize that prayer is very powerful and that The Father will give the strength you need to cope with ALL situations!
