I love home decorating magazines and blogs. I love slowly accumulating things for our home that I just love. When you don't have any money, it takes a lot longer. ;) One of my favorite blogs, Young House Love, has so many great decorating ideas, for CHEAP! They really cater to people who are on a budget. One of their ideas I've seen over and over on their blog is finding things at thrift stores, flea markets, etc. that are old, ugly, and outdated... but if they have good "bones" and structure, a coat of paint/spray paint will make it look brand new. Some of their "bef0re and after" pictures just amaze me, because whatever it was they painted is something I would have never thought could end up so cute.
Here are a few of my favorite easy painting transformations from their blog, that anybody could do...
So, I tried it myself last week with this bowl I found at TJ Maxx for $6. It was an ugly brown/rusty color.
It turned out pretty cute in my opinion! I thought it would be super cute in a bright green or even yellow, but I painted it white so I could use it with any season. Right now it's the centerpiece on our dining table and it has pinecones in it, but am hoping to fill it with some red and/or green balls or ornaments for Christmas.
With a little TLC, I think a lot of things really do have the potential to be super cute. I just need to get better about recognizing it!

Nice job! I love it! I am with you; I am not good at seeing the "potential" in some of these flea market buys. Keep posting these good ideas! I need all the inspiration I can get!
