writing practice

When Camden got in the car after school, the first thing he said was, "I need a whiteboard!". (Yes, he said that before he said hello... I was feelin' the love.) Fortunately, I have a small one that I keep in the fridge to jot down things I need to do or remember. Apparently his teacher had encouraged them to get either a whiteboard or chalkboard to practice writing each day. I think it's a great idea. So, I gave it to him and let him go at it! The first thing he wrote was the alphabet...

Then, in his own version, he wrote "Now I know my ABC's, next time won't you sing with me". (His version: Naw i now my abcs, nex tim wot u seing wit me)
His teachers are encouraging the kids to write sentences based on how it sounds to them. They want them to learn to recognize sounds of letters/words before they tackle actual spelling. It's so cute to see how he tries so hard to write real words. He's come such a long way so far this year!

Good job Camden!!! That is so cute how he wrote those words. I can not believe how fast they are learning things in Kindergarten. I saw your post on FB about loving Kindergarten and being able to volunteer in his class each week. I agree, it is the most fun thing ever!!! Let me know about getting together for lunch soon. Love you!
