our spring break guest

We have a special guest visiting our home during the week of spring break. Are you ready to meet him?

This is Peanut, Camden's class pet at school. His is a guinea pig, in case you couldn't tell.

Yesterday morning (Friday), Camden's teacher emailed everybody to ask (or basically beg) if somebody could take Peanut home for the week, since he obviously can't stay at school by himself. She would have just taken him to her house, but she's in the process of trying to sell her house and didn't really want to have a guinea pig around for all the showings. So, I emailed her back and told her we'd do it. I thought I might be completely insane for taking on such a task, but I knew the boys would be THRILLED, and this little guy has been really fun to have around, I have to admit! He's so easy and really doesn't require much work at all.

The kids have LOVED having him here. Peanut loves to eat lettuce and carrots, we've discovered. Camden knows everything about taking care of him, since every day at school one kid is the "pet helper", and has the task of feeding and make sure Peanut is taken care of. If I have any questions, I just ask Camden!

Anderson can't get enough of him. He keeps calling him "my animal". He'll get down in the floor and say, "awww he's soooo cute!" Did I mention I found Anderson on top of the cage earlier today? Sigh.

This picture is kind of dark because the power was out when it was taken, but Camden held Peanut while David graciously changed the "bedding" in his cage. Peanut just sat and enjoyed the attention. Guinea pigs really aren't as bad as I have always made them out to be. I think we are really going to enjoy this little house guest for the week!

Girl... I think we need a field trip to your house.... Caleb would think he had died and gone to heaven to see that guinea pig!

I was thinking the same thing as Amber! I had a couple pet mice growing up, and absolutely LOVED them. Peanut looks huge on Camden's lap!

now that is a pretty cool responsibility to have.
